You wouldn’t know it by gazing at Onondaga Lake, but the job of digging out tons of contaminated sludge and piping it to Camillus began last Monday and continued non-stop throughout the week.

The biggest dredge of the three on the lake — nicknamed Marlin — started digging at 7 a.m. Monday and working around the clock through Saturday night. It is digging off the southwestern shore of the lake, near the staging area just south of Exit 7 on Interstate 690.
